02. give the courtesy of: ~라는 최소한의 예의를 배풀다

<종합 예문>

After we finished cramming for our exams, I asked my friends, “Would you care for another drink?” Everyone was exhausted, but we were proud that we’d gone above and beyond to prepare. I didn’t want to play favorites, so I treated everyone equally and offered each of them something to eat. Even though one of them hadn’t given me the courtesy of showing up on time, I still wanted to be kind. In the end, we all laughed and agreed that a little hard work and kindness go a long way.

시험 벼락치기를 마친 뒤, 나는 친구들에게 “한 잔 더 할래?”라고 물었어요. 모두 지쳐 있었지만, 우리 모두 기대 이상으로 열심히 준비한 게 자랑스러웠죠. 나는 누구만 편애하고 싶지 않아서 모두에게 똑같이 대하며 간식도 챙겨줬어요. 한 친구가 제시간에 오지도 않고 최소한의 예의도 안 지켰지만, 그래도 친절하게 대하고 싶었어요. 결국 우리는 다 같이 웃으며, 노력과 작은 친절이 얼마나 큰 힘이 되는지 공감했죠.
