01. go downhill: : 나빠지다, 쇠퇴하다, 내리막 길을 걷다

 

Instead of rebounding, which many enterpreneurs do after the loss of a business, my dad seemd to go downhill

 

02. fresh out of college: 갓 대학을 졸업한

 

All fo them were younger than me, fresh out of college, very attractive men and women, and dressed like corporate executives

 

03. give the courtesy of: ~라는 최소한의 예의를 배풀다


You haven't even given me the courtesy of an interview

 

04. if you must know: 꼭 알아야 겠다면

 

OK, if you must know, you are the only applicant without a MBA

 

05. draft dodger: 병역기피자

 

And you're telling me that you'd rather hire draft dodgers who went to school?

 

06. choosy: 까다로운

 

The job market is tight. We have many qualified applicants so we can afford to be choosy

 

07. cram for exam: 시험 벼락치기를 하다

 

While these kids were cramming for college exams

 

08. go for the close: 계약을 성사시키다, 마무리하다

 

To my surprise,the branch manager was listenig. I had his attention. At that moment, I decided to go for the close.

 

09. by all means: 꼭 그렇게 하라, 두말할 필요도 없이

 

If you think an MBA program trains these kids to beat IBM on the street, by all means, hire team

 

10. say one's piece: 하고 싶은 말을 다하다

 

Turning to the branch manager, I shook his hand and tahned him for listening. I had said my piece

Finally, on the verge of being fired, I called rich dad and asked for a meeting

A: How many cold calls do you make a day?

For a few weeks I took rich dad's advice to heart and did my bst to make more cold calls

Their secretaries were very skilled at keeping pesky salespeople like me away from their bosses

After listening to me moan and complain, rich dad simply asked, "How badly do you want to be an enterpreneur?"

Sitting in my little apartment in Waikiki, I contemplated quitting

They like to see the big picture. They think outside the box

In the end, it's your job to make the decision - but it is the advisor's job to make sure that the decision that you make is an informed decision

 

24. it is a great relife to know: ~해서 정말 다행이다

 

When you encounter a problem in business it is a great relief to know who to call for instant assistance

 

25. not always what it's cracked up to be: 생각보다 별로다, (cracked up 크게 떠들다, 칭찬하다)

 

Winning the lottery isn't always what it's cracked up to be

 

26. give some one reprimands: ~를 꾸짖다

 

He closed the door and gave me one of the most severe reprimands I have ever had from either of dads.

 

27. bare minimum: 정말 최소한의

 

Besides, I have a wife and three kids in school. It's gthe bare minimum I can live on.

 

28. gain a glimpse into: 잠깐 엿보다

 

I was gaining a glimpse into his brain, how he thought, how he spent money.

 

29. I haven't given that much thought yet: 아직 많이 생각을 안 해봤다

 

A: What is your marketing plan?

B: I haven't given much thought yet

 

30. get someone off the ground: (사업, 프로젝트 등을) 시작하다, 궤도에 올리다

 

For now, I think $4,000 is adequate to get me off the ground
